Have you ever wondered about those cute homes in Holyoke near Sheard Park? It turns out many of them are Habitat for Humanity homes! It was a privilege to volunteer alongside 3 other More Than Mom members at the current Greater Springfield’s Habitat for Humanity build site in Holyoke. This Holyoke 3 home property at Jackson and Chestnut Streets will be the site of Habitat’s newest homes, and we were able to work on a 3-bedroom home that will house a very deserving family with a five-year-old and ten-year-old child. The family worked side-by-side with us to proudly build their future home. Habitat for Humanity allows families to own homes with an affordable mortgage. These families must prove they can afford the mortgage on their future home, have good enough credit to be considered, not have an income above a certain threshold, and they need to put in sweat equity by helping to construct their home and often they help with other Habitat homes!
