Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a resident of a specific town to join More Than Mom?

No, any primary caregiver residing in the surrounding area is welcome. Our events will be mainly focused in the greater Springfield area however, so please take this into account when considering your willingness to travel for events, and how you plan to help out with More Than Mom.

Should my child(ren) be at a certain age for me to be a More Than Mom member?

The majority of our children & family events will be most appealing for Elementary school-age children and younger. When applicable, an event's description will include an age guideline to help you decide if it will be enjoyable for your family. Members-only events are always for all moms, regardless of their children’s ages (this includes first-time expectant moms too!).

I’m interested, but I’m not 100% sure yet. Is there a way for me to learn more?

Yes, check our website for events open to Potential Members. These events will give you an opportunity to meet some of our current members, ask questions, and “try it out” before joining. This trial period is limited to your first 2 Potential Member events.

What are the volunteer expectations of members?

As a charitable organization dedicated to serving our community, all members are expected to contribute to More Than Mom in a volunteer capacity at least twice per year. This can be met through hosting an event, helping to organize an event, serving as an Officer or committee member, participating in a service project, contributing to the Meal Train program, or otherwise supporting an Officer with MTM operations.

What is the Member Meal Train program?

The Member Meal Train program delivers a meal on specified days - whether it be cooked at home, bought at a store/restaurant, or given as a gift card - to a member going through a life-changing event, such as the arrival of a new baby or a particular hardship. These meals are provided by our own members, and all members of More Than Mom take turns contributing to the Member Meal Train program.

Why can't I see all events and event details?

To protect the privacy of our membership, some events and event details are only for active, registered members of More Than Mom. Other events will be open to the local community or for Potential Members and these will be publicly visible on our website.

I have an idea for an event - how do I make it happen?

We are a fully member-run group, and so we love to see our members' ideas put into action! All active members have the ability to submit their ideas for events through their account on the More Than Mom website/app. When submitting an idea, it helps to know if you'd be willing to host the event(s)! Your ideas will be reviewed by one of our Officers and they may reach out for more details.

How can I get involved in More Than Mom?

Members can view More Than Mom's open Officer and Committee positions on our website. Once registered and logged in, you will have access to the "Get Involved" page where you can see openings and apply or sign up for the opportunity that interests you.

How will I be kept up-to-date with More Than Mom?

Active members have access to More Than Mom's groups, forums, email notifications, and messaging capabilities through the More Than Mom website & app. Public updates and events will also be posted on mtmom.org and on More Than Mom's Facebook page.

I have more questions - who can I talk to?

Send us a message using our Get In Touch form or email us at contact@mtmom.org and we'll get back to you promptly.

What is a Legacy Member?

Legacy Members are More Than Mom members who joined before July 2022. Because these members joined during our very first months of operation, their faith in MTM is rewarded with a locked-in, lifetime Annual Membership Fee of $35/year.
