About the event
Open to experienced and new knitters! We are working on getting materials, but please let us know if you have your own. Bring some snacks/drinks to enjoy while we knit and chat!
New to knitting folks, we will be using this template: https://www.bhookedcrochet.com/2017/12/07/easy-knit-hat/
Expierenced knitters can knit any hat they like fitting the specifications below.
Hat Not Hate is looking for a wide range of hat sizes (for ages 5-18), most sizes are appropriate, i.e. ranging from 16 inches to 20 inches in circumference. Hats should be handmade using any blue yarn and should be at least 75% blue.
Hat collection is happening through Storrs libary through May 31st.Â
Hat Not Hate was launched in 2018 as an antibullying campaign founded by Shira Blumenthal. Handmade blue hats are created, collected and distributed to schools nationwide, educating the students about the message of kindness. The color blue represents awareness, peace and solidarity. Blue is the color to wear in solidarity of anti-bullying. For more information, check out hatnothate.org.
